FIC BESAC Inline Cup: Boher (RPM Poli) and Gaudesaboos (Cado Motus) the strongest!
Communiqué du 04/09/2008

Matthieu Boher and Jessica Gaudesaboos won the sixth stage of the FIC last Sunday. Both of them were really the strongest, finishing their race alone or quite alone, forcing their opponents to abdicate. This first stage of the French series after the summer break was a success: more than 200 Open skaters, some beautiful races under beautiful skies. It’s a good way to enter in the last part of the FIC season!

The men’s race was dominated by the RPM Poli team. During the first four laps, the four team mates tried to escape, two by two (Babault, Hascoët, Gauclin and Boher). The good break came during the fourth lap, when Kévin Gauclin went away with Carlos Salasar Zapata (Bont): Matthieu Boher immediately reacted, and the trio was never seen back again. The two “orange” made the Colombian work in order to insure the victory. Boher found the good moment to attack him again, two laps before the end: he quickly opened a gap of about 1’30, and won his second FIC this season, in 1h08’53. It was a perfect day for RPM Poli, Kévin Gauclin finishing second – and Salasar Zapata third.

The women’s race looked like an elimination race, with Jessica Gaudesaboos (Cado Motus) in her best role. The Belgium managed to break through the peloton: at mid-race, they were only three ahead, with Tamara Llorens (Bont) and local start Anne-Sophie Petitprez (BESAC). But Petitprez finally finished alone, unable to follow the speed of Gaudesaboos. Llorens resisted a longer while… But she was unable to contest the victory to Gaudesaboos after 1h21 of race.

The Open races were quite similar to the Marathons, with strong skaters revealed. But the difference is that these skaters did not win their races, either in the ladies division – with Claudie Duval (Brétigny) – or in the men division – with Philippe Poirier (VSF). Both of them looked really strong, breaking the packs and forcing the speed. But both of them were not fast enough in the sprint. So that Floriane Imbert won the women race in 1h08’47 and Nicolas Jaffrain (LOU Roller) captured the gold in the men’s one in 56 minutes.
