Yann Guyader (Alessi Powerslide) and Nicole Begg (Bont Wheels), clear victories in Nîmes, FIC 1st stage
Communiqué du 09/04/2009New-Zealander Nicole Begg and French Yann Guyader captured clear victories last week-end in Nîmes, South of France. Both of them were competing the first stage of the French Inline Cup, and showed their strenght, managing to escape, and to sprint for the gold.
In the women’s race, Nicole Begg quickly decided to impose her speed: she escaped with my many of her opponents, including Nathalie Barbotin (Alessi Powerslide) at mid-race: the two girls were on to skate for the podium, but Begg changed her strategy... She stopped her efforts, in order to wait for her team mate, Tamara Llorens. With Llorens, four other athletes managed to come back in the first group. But Nicole Begg was definitively the strongest: she won the sprint in front of Barbotin and Llorens, and French Laetitia Le Bihan (RPM Poli), Lucie Peruzzetto (Ligne Droite/Powerslide) and Christine Chabenet (USM Villeparisis).
In the men’s race, Yann Guyader also escaped, with his team mate Ewen Fernandez and two skters from RPM Poli, Julien Sourisseau and Kévin Gauclin. It was after two laps of race (out of 16). But laps after laps, Gauclin, and then Sourisseau, failed to follow the two matadors of Alessi Powerslide. Finally, Guyader captured the gold, and Fernandez the silver. Sourisseau crossed the line alone for the bronze. The sprint for the fourth place was competed between the sixth followers, inluding Giacomo Cuncu (Alessi Powerslide): the Italian took a bad trajectory and finished at the ninth rank, behind Hascoët, Gauclin, Barrault, Esnault and Ruiz Rivera.
